My Decorations

This is the extent of my Christmas decorations (with the exception of some holiday dish towels).

I suppose I should go get some greenery from the yard and plop it down, but I'm too lazy.

It was easy to create, first take one DH that has an extensive record collection and was happy to supply the red vinyl Christmas 45's. Then take two oranges out of the bag that you paid $5.00 for and are completely inedible and dry them. TAA, DAA!!!!

Don't know how to dry oranges? Here's an easy way and this is quite similar to what I did. After I dried them in the microwave, I also placed them on the lowest setting in the oven for about an hour. Then I placed them on a clean paper towel and they finished drying overnight. Place them in a bowl that you won from the "pitch a nickel" stand at the carnival in 1970 and there you go.

Well, that's it for now. We are expecting a "wintry mix" tonight, so I might have to get out the ingredients and make some oatmeal-raisin cookies to enjoy tomorrow. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends. Take care and stay creative!

A touch of red, wonderful dried oranges and the scent of warm spicy cookies filling the house. What more does a gal need to feel the Christmas spirit? Ya got it goin' on!

Boy, I haven't seen red vinyl since my childhood. All my kids songs like "The Big Rock Candy Mountain" were on red vinyl.

You have a blessed enjoyable weekend, sweet lady!!!

I remember those records. When we lived in England we had a big furnace in the closet and I sprinkled cinnamon on my orange slices and put them on a plate on the heater and the whole place smelled wonderful.
Merry Christams!

COLOR! and the scent of orange in the air!
The one Christmas that I was dogless I decorated up a storm, including spraypainted weeds stuck in spraypainted wine bottles with sparkly garlands and clove-studded dried oranges.
Such an ambitious holiday season will likely never come again for me! :-P

Hi! I just discovered your lovely blog. My sisters & I had tons of 45 records when we were growing up but never a red one! They do make a nice Christmas display though - ha. Cookies sound yummy! I might have to make some of those myself.
Merry Christmas! I'll check back often. ~ Jill

I always loved 45s, my sister had a large stack of them, and it was always a treat when she would let me play them!
The dried oranges look great!
My ex-husband ate a taste of my potpourri once, he thought it was a snack mix... that is why he is my ex-husband! :)
The closets are STILL gloriously organized. I have a closet issue and dresser issue. Those are my areas that have to remain organized at all times, because I need to reference back to organization if ever things become a mess. (Did I tell you I have OCD??, well, it keep closets, cupboards, and dressers super tidy for me!)
Have a great day!!!

Oh my goodness!! I remember those red vinyl records!
I would love to try the dried fruit thing but I got rid of our microwave years ago. (Most folks gasp when I tell them that.) :> )
But I can do the oranges with the cloves stuck in 'em. They smell wonderful!
Darlin' as long as the Christmas spirit is in our hearts, decorations really don't matter. ♥
