Just a quick post with a few pictures...

I'm acting as go between/designer on the remodel of my sister's house here in Virginia.  There was some talk about the contractor going out to the West Coast to bring in some supplies and such, but we decided that's waaaaaay too inconvenient.  I think I can act as liaison between all the parties involved and come up with a killer project.

So as is my usual style, I'm starting us off with some before pictures...

Here you see the living room and the front hall/foyer before demo...

Here is the living room fireplace after demo...

I took this shot of that same fireplace, to show how you can see all the way through to the back of the house...

It's really not easy to get good before, during and after shots sometimes, but at least you get the gist of the size of this project.  The house which looks like this from the outside...

is basically a skeleton on the inside.  It's interesting to see this type of remodel in progress, and you can only imagine the debris that resulted from the demolition.  See that board on the front steps, well that was how they wheeled the downstairs trash to the dumpster...they brought the upstairs materials down the hall staircase by hand and in five gallon buckets.  Those guys were totally beat after it was done.

The contractor, TD, told me that it took eight loads to remove everything.  That's not counting what people removed from the dumpster, which wasn't a huge amount, but they did take wood and other items that they could use.

Well, that's it for me today.  Hopefully my pictures will be better next time, but until then we'll use our imagination as to what might be going on.

Have a great day and enjoy life...

It looks really, well..empty now. But it will really shine once TD and crew get the walls back in and the paint goes on...so long as they save the floorboards and you don't rip out the fireplaces (what a mess that would be) the character of the house will remain. The pictures are really good. I like them. Thanks for the post --it gives us all a way to keep up with the project progress! Doing good so far!!
