Hump Day

My mom, always got up on Wednesdays and declared excitedly "It's Hump Day". For those of you unfamiliar with this term, she meant that when work was done, she was over the hump and on the downside, sliding into the weekend.

Anyway, it is Wednesday and I really don't have anything to report, except that once again the forecast said snow and we have bright sunshine and 23 degrees with a wind chill of 9 degrees, and no snow.

I have been trying out several different things in my studio. I will be doing a little giveaway next week in honor of Valentine's day. Something heart related, of course, and while I was trying this and that, just like the Mad Scientist that I am, I realized that I have glow in the dark polymer clay.

Glow in the Dark Clay??? Does it work? That can't possibly work! Prove it !!

Yes, wee ones, it really does glow in the dark. Not for very long periods of time, but hold it up to the light and it gets re-energized. All glow-in-the-dark products contain phosphors. A phosphor is a substance that radiates visible light after being energized. To make a glow-in-the-dark object, what you want is a phosphor that is energized by normal light and that has a very long persistence. If you want to read more on this subject, feel free to click on this link, which is where I found such an easy to understand explanation.

Well that's all for now, except to wish everyone a Happy Hump Day. It like having a holiday every week. Take care and stay warm and safe.

I made lots of ghosts with the glow in the dark clay. I had a beer bottle witch that had glow in the dark ghosts peering out of her hat, and her dress and coat. I turned out really neat. It sold and the only picture I had of her was on my computer. Then along came an evil person who thought how fun to ruin someone's computer. Sorry to whine, but that is why I am not sharing a picture of it with you.
I haven't played with my clay in a long time.
Have fun with the Glow in the Dark Clay. Is your's real soft?? Mine was, so it didn't hold up to cane making real well.
Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you make.

That clay is cool. Can't wait to see your Valentine treats. Take care! BTW, we got more snow today. Not a whole lot but enough to delay school for two hours. I can't believe you haven't gotten any yet!

I like the new look of your blog! I have never worked with that clay, but it sounds like fun and I can't wait to see what valentine treats you are making. We are not as cold as you are, but we had a freeze last night and the wind chill is ... I am not sure...cold!!
